I wish I could tell you more but for the meantime... We have NEARLY completed one of many (we hope) for a customer. She will be our prototype and we can't wait to show her off!!

With the festive season dawning we at Turbo Glass know that many families pack their boats and head off fishing for a break.



Whilst doing so please remember that safety is paramount when on the water no matter where you are. Whether it is a small dam or the vast expanse that is Lake Kariba, life jackets, yellow cloth a torch and mirror are must have's along with others.

There is never anything better than being able to finish work on a Friday and know you can go home, pack your fishing kit, cooler box and boat and be at a local dam within minutes to do some all important bass fishing in Bulawayo.

We have some beautiful Dams in and around our wonderful city and what makes them so special is the simple fact that they are easy to get to and fish out of. Just to prove this point here are some of the dams and their distances from Bulawayo...

• Inyankuni 

Bass fishing out of 'kuni' is a great experience, there have been some good fish caught here and is one of the more popular destinations for the avid fisherman. It lies about 80km's from Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe Bass Record

This is a story of a bass record in 2001.

Probably the most captivating and sought after subject on every Bass fisherman’s mind - even stronger than mere numbers of bass or tournament winnings - is the thought of one day catching a record fish, or more so, a world record fish. Well, Africa’s Basser’s, we are not far off the mark now.

On Wednesday 8th August 2001, 19 year old Danyal Patel of Buffalo Range in Zimbabwe’s Lowveld hooked and landed a bass that is probably amongst the top forty biggest bass landed on the rod and reel in the world.

Danyal’s fish, caught at noon, regurgitated a bream of 250 grams which would have counted toward overall weight. After the midday catch, the fish was only weighed at 6pm that evening. Having caught and released several fish over 10 pounds and one topping the scale at 14.8 pounds before, he knew when he hooked it that this one was different, and a trophy worthy of keeping. The fish viciously attacked a chartreuse Ark buzz bait with a clacker fished on 17 pound line using a 6’6" graphite rod. Not only does he have a knack of catching big fish but constantly runs rings around his Dad (who owns a Piranha 160) who employs him as a cattleman, an occupation which affords him ample opportunity for a cast or two without being noticed. This time he got caught!
