Piranha run continued...

This is not a trip for the feint hearted...

There have been some dramatic ups and downs along the way... We have had motor scares, animal 'intrusions' and a lion attack on this trip over the last twenty years and these are, in a way what makes this African experience unique and unmissable.

Tranquillity...

So... Carrying on in the early 90's, the initial trip was such a success that Turbo Glass were inundated with queries, requests and interest from many people wanting to know if the trip was a one off or would they make it an annual event.

With so much interest there was only one choice... Charge!!!

Piranha 160

And they did!

RULES OF THE PIRANHA RUN

Over the years there have been some rules implemented on the Piranha run, not for safety on the water (this is a rule that will never be compromised) but more for fun and enjoyment. I shall list a few of these for you and who knows, you may know them already or better yet, if you ever do your own 'weekend away' or trip you can use them! No copy-rite here, but popping us an email on how the rule went would be nice to add to the blog!

  • BUFFALO - This was introduced to keep the men on their toes. It is a rule where everyone must drink their re-hydration liquids from their left hands and left hands only. If you are caught consuming from your right hand, anyone one the Piranha Run can shout (usually at the top of their voices) BUFFALO!!! The guilty consumer must now put the drink in his left hand and finish the contents in one. If you feel sorry for the consumer, don't! Through team respect, the person who shouted buffalo will replenish the consumer with a fresh glass from his stash!

  • ANIMAL CHECK - This illustrious game was introduced later in the Piranha Run but is still used to this day... It could be a bit confusing so please email if you want full details, i'll happily share! So, in a nut shell, everyone on the trip is given a small plastic animal to have and to hold, through daytime and night! He must keep his animal on his person 24hrs a day for the entire trip and feed and water them and tend to their every needs. A games master (Chief zoo-keeper) can call for an 'animal check' at any point of the trip and if they deem any such person to have abused their animal (may it be a lost limb, not being watered or fed or worse still, not having the animal to hand) they will be fined a sever consumption... Down in one!

Now please do not think this trip is all about games and alcohol as this is far from the case. If you ask any man who has done it they will simply say 'amazing.' To put a trip like this into words is proving more difficult than i thought as not only do you get to see one of the most beautiful, untouched wonders of Africa first hand, but it gives you a release, not from the world, but from worries, frustration and strife that may have turned you into a stressed wreck pre trip. You can do this run and come back a new and even better person... Definitely one for the soul...

Extreme fun on a Piranha 160
